More than sixteen years have already gone by since an architect friend of mine, in Venice, enthusiastically whispered to me: «I have to design a lighthouse. Would you help me with it?» Since then this small project – which actually intrigued me a lot – has been lying here in my studio as I had imagined it, entirely made of stone and cement. Maybe, with a bit of luck and a bit more perseverance, we could have realised it if my Swedish friend and his commission had not vanished forever, drowned, I suppose, in a sea of legal documents full of subsections and lethal terms and conditions which killed any flights of architectural fantasy [M.N.].
